“Lois Unleashed”

By Lois Mierau

Well of course the big news is we are having classes in our new training facility. It isn’t finished, and probably won’t be for awhile, but I am thrilled to be able to continue classes throughout the winter. This is a dream come true for me, a dream I have had for many years. My heartfelt thanks goes out to my husband Wes, and all the men that donated their time and muscle to getting it closed in before the cold winds of winter hit. I look forward to hosting many classes, fun matches and seminars.

We attended a NADAC games trial in Lloydminster on November 3 and 4. This trial features NADAC’s non-jumping classes: Weavers (weave poles and tunnels), Touch and Go (contact obstacles and tunnels) and Tunnelers (only tunnels). They are fun, fast courses that test the dog’s ability to focus on the obstacles, while moving fast and resisting the lure of the many off-course tunnels calling out to them!

We were also in Edmonton on Nov. 17 and 18 for a regular trial. Quewe and I, Liane and Friday and Donella and Jake all had some nice runs. After much deliberation we decided to stay overnight in Edmonton rather than drive home Sunday. We were enjoying a beautiful, sunny day but were told that driving conditions were less than perfect further east, due to our first winter blizzard.

Keep our trial dates in mind for 2008. They are May 24 & 25 and August 11 & 12. I know many of you will be ready to enter at least one of these trials. Before our May trial we will be hosting a seminar with Audrey Bloxham from Calgary. Stay tuned for more info in the future.
